Frankenstein’s Creature (with a ‘clockwork’ heart of brass and silver filigree, with steel wheels and wire.)
The movie monster is all green skin, flat head, neck bolts. But I chose Mary Shelley’s own words: ‘
lustrous black hair’, ‘features selected for their beauty’, ‘ skin that barely covers the work of veins and arteries beneath’, and ‘shrivelled complexion and straight, black lips’. Given the choice, why would anyone choose green skin and neck bolts? The only thing of my own devising is the clockwork heart, though there is a human heart in the picture (he’s holding it in his hand…)
