Sam, Lord of the Rings, by Soni Alcorn-Hender

‘Folk in those stories had lots of chances of turning back,
only they didn’t.’

Samwise the Brave! The stout-hearted Hobbit is shown framed by his journey: the map fragment at the top left is of the Shire, the one at the bottom right is of Mordor; and the two are linked by a coil of Elvish rope, though it’s burnt and frayed where it reaches Mordor, like the Hobbit himself.
Anchoring the other end of the rope is the ‘phial of Galadriel’, that small source of constant light and hope, and flowering branches firmly rooted in the quote itself.
Around the quote and the Shire grow the little ‘elanor’ flowers first seen in Lorien and which later grow in the Shire as well, and after which he named his first daughter.
