Strange & Norrell: ‘Gentleman with the Thistle-down Hair’ wip

Work in progress of that most notorious of the fair folk: ‘The Gentleman with the Thistle-down Hair’, from the gorgeous book by Susanna Clarke. (Also now a surprisingly splendid adaptation by the BBC)

Proud Titania

Proud Titania, Queen of the Fairies. Among all that is beautiful and poisonous. The flowers and berries around her include Wolfsbane, Hemlock, Angel Trumpets, Foxgloves, Opium poppies, Castor flowers, and Belladonna (Deadly Nightshade).

“Out of this wood do not desire to go:
Thou shalt remain here, whether thou wilt or no.”

For Perna Studios trading card set ‘Spellcasters 2: Enchanted Realms’ (coming Spring of 2016). Acrylics, pearl paint, and crystals on canvas-board 9×11 inches.
This will be a promo card for the set.

Sadlittles ‘Essence of Fairyland’ – Absinthe

I was asked to make a painting which would be a printed card for the set ‘Essence of Fairyland’, and I could do whichever fairy I liked, so I chose ‘La Fée Verte’, the Green Fairy of Absinthe.

‘The Green Fairy in the Absinthe wants your soul…’
(Bram Stoker’s Dracula).

Sadlittles ‘Essence of Fairyland’ sketch cards

For the printed card for this set I chose to do ‘La Fée Verte’, the Green Fairy of Absinthe, so for the sketch cards I invented more fairy patrons of other delightful and decadent little pleasures – some quite harmless, others deliciously disastrous.
